Algae oil is the vegetarian alternative for high-quality omega-3 fatty acids with a 40% DHA content. The omega-3 fatty acid DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) is important for a healthy heart, for the eyes (vision), and for mental fitness.
Since the essential omega-3 fatty acids like DHA cannot be produced by the body itself, they must be obtained through food. Fatty fish (e.g., tuna, salmon, or mackerel) are particularly rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Fundamentally, these cold-water fish are the only way to absorb sufficient omega-3 fatty acids.
Ideal Omega-3 Alternative
For those who do not eat fish as vegetarians or vegans, Dr. Oldhaver’s vegan DHA capsules made from algae oil are the ideal plant-based, low-pollutant, vegan, and sustainable alternative. This is because other plant sources such as nuts, linseed oil, hemp oil, or rapeseed oil only contain the inactive omega-3 fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), which must first be converted into the biologically more active form, DHA, in order to be used by the human body.
The vegan DHA capsules are also very well-suited for people who do not like fish, because there is naturally no fishy aftertaste as there is after consuming fish oil capsules.
