How does this work in practice?
Carbohydrates consist of sugar molecules. During the digestive process, the carbohydrates consumed are broken down into these sugar components (glucose). If the glucose is not immediately used as energy (because you are exercising or engaged in mental effort), it is stored in the body as fat. The more carbohydrates you eat, the more excess glucose is produced, which is then stored as fat.
Ideally, as few carbohydrates as possible would be broken down into sugar. And this is exactly where Dr. Oldhaver's Carb Blocker comes in: it counteracts the absorption and breakdown of carbohydrates, thereby inhibiting fat storage. The key to this is phaseolamin, a natural substance we produce from kidney and white beans. This active ingredient blocks the activity of alpha-amylase, the very digestive enzyme that breaks down the carbohydrates absorbed through food into smaller sugar units. By blocking this enzyme, carbohydrate absorption can be reduced by up to forty percent.
